Three Reasons I Quit Blogging

I took a few year hiatus from my blog for the following 3 reasons.

1. When I joined Liberty Mutual Insurance in 2009 I was training in the classroom so much that my world literally became sales training. That’s an interesting career, but it isn’t really what I like to blog about. Due to the time commitment, sales training was all I could think about, so I just stopped blogging because I didn’t really want nathankey.com to become a “sales focused” blog.
   
2. I took a job as a Branch Manager. Due to my public profile I wanted to lay low in my personal life. I didn’t really want a huge personal digital presence. Since clients and customers can easily be turned off by opinions on faith, politics, or philosophy (which is what I’m interested in blogging about) and I didn't want to lose opportunities in the community, so I thought it better just to bother my wife with my thoughts and leave them off the blog for a whole.
3. I had kids. Prior to my oldest son being born I had a lot more free time to think and wonder and read. Now my evenings consist of the following schedule: eat with the kids, get everyone thru bath time, read a book to one or more kids, force everyone to brush their teeth, get everyone in bed on time, walk the dog, hang out with my wife until it’s time to go to bed. I could certainly blog about parenthood, but it’s not as exciting to me as faith, politics, and philosophy – even though there’s probably more page views for me if I write about being a dad…

My job has changed, I'm back in training but I'm not in the classroom for 50 hours a week now, so there's a chance that I could get back into this. I miss it and I’d love to be back into a regular cadence of posting.
