Why is there Something rather than Nothing? 11/06/2010
A question that's bugged philosophers for some time is 'why is there something rather than nothing?' This is a difficult question because there IS something, and so we can't even begin to fathom that there could be a situation where there is nothing. But why? Why do we exist? Why does God exist? Why is there something, rather than nothing? CommentsBilly Gauat 11/07/2010 17:12
We have a universe of something rather than nothing because the state of "nothing" is UNSTABLE. For the details read "The Self-Generating Universe". It will explain it all. 11/08/2010 16:38
I guess a philosophical way of looking at nothing is that there must be something looking at the nothing for the nothing to be recognised as nothing, so it must be something - at least to the sensor anyway. Is this a I think therefore I am or it is all an illusion this reality we seek? There cannot be nothing when to be a no thing is to be something that is able to be described. Therefore there must be something describing the nothing and again we're back to a something experiencing the nothing. In spiritual sense it can be argued that to believe in God the nothing is something and the something is nothing for God is in the eye of the beholder who must be a something to consider that there is nothing. So when is something nothing? The Universe is unstable because if it wasn't we wouldn't be here. Does this mean that the Universe is a something or a nothing. My guess is Who knows? I certainly don't and no matter how much science is applied to the subject it will always remain a matter for your own experience to determine. Leave a Reply |
